OEKO-TEX® Annual Report 2024/25: Growth in Certifications Highlights Demand for Transparency

02.09.25

The new OEKO-TEX® Annual Report 2024/25 highlights continued growth in certifications worldwide, reflecting the increasing importance of sustainability, transparency, and independent verification in the textile and leather industry.

In the past financial year, OEKO-TEX® issued more than 57,000 certificates, representing an 8% increase compared to the previous year. This growth highlights how brands, manufacturers, and consumers increasingly rely on certifications to demonstrate safety, build trust, and meet complex regulatory expectations.

The report showcases several important milestones from the past year:
  • 10 years of OEKO-TEX® MADE IN GREEN – Today, more than 18,000 products worldwide carry the label, giving consumers access to verifiable supply chain data and enabling informed, conscious purchasing decisions.
  • Stronger chemical safety standards – OEKO-TEX® updated its Restricted Substances List (RSL) and Manufacturing Restricted Substances List (MRSL), adding new restrictions on bisphenols and fragrances to better protect sensitive consumer groups.
  • Collaboration for greater impact – Closer partnerships with Cradle to Cradle, the Global Nature Fund, and ZDHC, as well as OEKO-TEX®’s membership in ISEAL, reinforced the association’s commitment to biodiversity, water stewardship, and transparent standards.
  • OEKO-TEX® RESPONSIBLE BUSINESS – The further development of this tool, aligned with the OECD Due Diligence Guidance, strengthens OEKO-TEX®’s role as a trusted partner for responsible business conduct.

Dr Alfred J. Beerli, CEO of OEKO-TEX®, emphasised: “The progress we achieved over the past year is the direct result of collective effort. It demonstrates the importance of trust, collaboration and open dialogue in driving sustainable change.”

The OEKO-TEX® Annual Report 2024/25 provides a comprehensive overview of these developments and the association’s priorities for the future.

The findings are a clear signal: certification is gaining weight across markets and supply chains. Companies that invest in OEKO-TEX® standards are not only ensuring compliance but also strengthening their competitiveness and credibility with international buyers.
