Reliable verification that leather articles do not contain any harmful substances, such as the allergenic Chrom-VI, represents a valuable decision-making tool for all consumers.
In 2018, the OEKO-TEX® Association endeavours to provide further targeted support on issues relating to consumer protection and sustainability throughout the textile value creation chain. The existing guidelines of the OEKO-TEX® product portfolio were updated on 02 January. The new regulations come into effect on 01 April 2018 for all certification systems and other services, following a three-month transition period.

OEKO-TEX® trains additional auditors for STeP certification
On June 30th, OEKO-TEX® General Secretary Georg Dieners and Robert Löcker, Managing Director of the ÖTI – the Institute for Ecology, Technology, and Innovation - presented the 150,000th OEKO-TEX® Standard 100 certificate to the Austrian embroidery manufacturer Ernst Böhler GmbH.
Malaysia’s Penfabric has become the world’s first integrated textile company undertaking yarn spinning, greige weaving to dyeing and finishing, to be awarded the STeP by OekoTex® certificate for sustainable textile production and with it, the product label Made in Green by OekoTex®.

For more than 20 years, OEKO-TEX® has been a reliable partner for textile companies committed to human-ecologically safe products and the implementation of more sustainable manufacturing. The newest addition to the product portfolio is Made in Green by OEKO-TEX® - a traceable product label which allows for communication throughout the supply chain all the way to the end-user.
As of 1st April 2015, new requirements will be applicable for the certification of environmentally friendly and socially responsible production facilities in accordance with STeP by OEKO-TEX®.
