GARNRUNDTEST (Yarn Round Robin Test)

The GARNRUNDTEST was brought into being in 1983. Initially 22 textile laboratories in 4 countries (Switzerland, Germany, Austria and Italy) took part. Over the years the number of textile laboratories regularly taking part has increased steadily up to 90 participants worldwide.

In the GARNRUNDTEST 10 cops, mainly of cotton with a count of approx. Ne30 to Ne110, are dispatched two times a year and can be tested with regard to the following parameters:

• count
• twist
• tenacity /elongation
  CRE Type (20 sec., 500mm/min, 5000mm/min) Lea Test, Tensojet
• evenness (capacitive und optical)
• hairiness (count and index)
• friction value

Results from up to four testing instruments for each test criterion can be submitted for evaluation within a fixed period. The test results are recorded centrally and evaluated neutrally (each laboratory is given a laboratory code number) in a comprehensive report. An example of an evaluation can be downloaded at downloads. Each participant receives written confirmation of participation at the end of each calendar year (see illustration).

Participants in the GARNRUNDTEST are invoiced with 500.00 CHF per year as a contribution to expenses.
