According to the product safety regulation (PrSV) dated 19. May 2010, i.e. EU Council Directive 89/686/EEC quoted therein, only personal protective equipment (PPE) which has been certified by the manufacturer it-self or by a recognised conformity appraisal body, depending on the category, as being in conformity with the stipulated requirements may be sold in Switzerland and the EU. The Product Certification Body of TESTEX is such a recognised conformity appraisal body registered under Accreditation No. SCESp 096 and designated as Notified Body 1726 in the context of the bilateral agreements with the EU.

If the relevant certificates have been issued by the Product Certification Body of TESTEX in the case of PPE for which type testing is compulsorily prescribed, the CE label of conformity may be affixed to this PPE by the manufacturer after a declaration of conformity has been issued, and may therefore be brought on to the market in Switzerland and the EU.
