First TESTEX Melbourne office to represent Oeko-Tex® in Australia

TESTEX is pleased to announce the opening of our first representative office in Australia, located in the city of Melbourne Australia's unofficial textile capital. Led by Office Manager Kate Barry, the new office will introduce and advocate for quality standards in the Australian textile industry.

Textiles play a very important role in the lives of everyday Australians; Australia is a renowned worldwide importer of textiles as well as an exporter to Europe and the U.S., and the market has a strong commitment to sustainability and ethical supply.

However, at the moment there are no controls on chemical substances in textile imports, and only exports are subject to various safety requirements. Examples include the American Apparel Footwear Association (AAFA) Restricted Substances List (RSL), the US Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) list of mandatory banned harmful substances, the REACH requirements of EU and the international Oeko-Tex® Standard 100.

TESTEX Melbourne is looking forward to the opportunity to raise awareness of the Oeko-Tex® Standard 100 certification on which basis also to help the Australian textile industry meet global standards of safety and quality.
